My favourite weekend of the year is almost upon us! The 13th SetsMad Irish Set Dancing weekend will take place on 27 to 29th September at Cliddesdon Village Hall, near Basingstoke. The fabulous Rise the Dust Ceili Band will be playing for three ceilis over the weekend, and Padraig and Roisin McEneany will be there to teach us some old and new Irish Set Dances. Rise the Dust and the McEneanys travel over from Ireland for this event, so we are very lucky to have them.
No dances are repeated over the weekend, so that means we dance around 30 different dances. It’s great to dance such a range of dances in the friendly atmosphere there is in the hall.
Dancers travel from all over England and as far away as Prague to be at this event, so there is always the chance to socialise in the local hotels until the early hours.
The weekend rounds off with an evening at Zizzi’s restaurant in Basingstoke, where there is more music and dancing, as well as lots of eating and drinking and relaxed chatting over the events of the weekend.
